Adult Orthodontics

At Willowbrook Dental we are able to provide orthodontic treatments for adults who are seeking a solution to their misaligned or crooked teeth. The principles of treatment are the same as for children and there is no upper age limit, though treatment times will be longer as growth in adults has ceased, so teeth will move at a slower rate as compared to an adolescent. We would usually advise treatment times in the range of 18 to 30 months depending on the degree of dental crowding at the start of treatment. Adult orthodontic treatment in Leicester is not provided by the NHS, so is only available on a private basis.

Once you have decided you wish to have your teeth straightened and smile improved, we will book you in for a full assessment. During your assessment visit, our orthodontic team will get to know your main concerns, and check you are dentally fit with good gum health and bone levels, and you are maintaining an excellent level of oral hygiene.

Provided you are suitable, we will discuss the different types of braces available, from traditional metal to clear ceramic type to help you decide which best suits your needs. Once you have completed your treatment and you have the perfect smile, we want them to remain that way and will provide you with retainers which can either be fixed or removable clear retainers. We will advise you on how often these need to be worn. Usually, retention following brace treatment should be considered as lifelong.
