How does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign is a clear aligner system used to straighten and align crooked teeth and provides patients an alternative to fixed metal braces. Invisalign was launched in 2000 in the US and since then 5 million patients have been treated with Invisalign aligners worldwide. So it is a safe and predictable method of aligning teeth.

If you are considering having your teeth straightened to improve your smile then Invisalign is certainty worth bearing in mind as one of the options to help you achieve this.

Once you have decided that you would like to find out more the first step is to book in for a free consultation to allow us to assess your teeth and smile and see if Invisalign would be suitable for you.

At your initial consultation visit we would usually want to get to know you and find out what aspect of your smile you wish to improve and answer any questions you may have and then see if you would be suitable for Invisalign. If you are not suitable then we would discuss the alternatives for you to consider.

If you are suitable for Invisalign then we would take photographs and some moulds of your teeth which we then send off to the Invisalign Centre for scanning and assessment of how your teeth can be straightened. When you return for your follow-up appointment we would then be able to show you a 3D simulation on the computer of how your teeth would be straightened and the number of aligners required to achieve this. You will then have a better idea of the timeframe required to achieve your new smile and any additional treatment requirements. If you are happy with this and wish to proceed then your custom aligners will be ordered for manufacture and when you return after 2 weeks you will be ready to start your Invisalign treatment.
